Fishing Go-Bag

Do you have a fishing go-bag? In other words a tackle bag or tray with some essentials in it that you can grab quickly. Or one you leave in your car when you decide to go fishing last minute? Well, you should! Here is a starting point!

Spinners

Spinners are easy to cast. You straight retrieve them. They have an incredible hookup ratio. And above all, you can cover water in many different ways. But yet, it still amazes me how little you hear people talk about using spinners. One of the most underrated lures. Inline spinners are a lure that will catch any fish in any body of water. Grab a few sizes in silver and gold and you’re set for any species of fish.

Senko

The Senko is another versatile bait. It can be fished in many different ways and in places where an inline spinner is tough to throw. Around heavy cover like thick weeds or around wooden snags, the Senko is a go-to. Bass are not the only fish that will eat a Senko either! For instance, depending on the size you have and how you rig it pike, walleye, muskie, and even trout. With a couple styles of hooks and weights, you can get that Senko just about anywhere.

Topwater

Topwaters are in my fishing go-bag because, well, they are fun! I mean who doesn’t love fishing topwater! There is always that anticipation of the strike! I always have a couple of chug-bugs and a frog or two in my go-bag. It is a visual strike so you get an idea of where the fish are even if you miss them. Plus you can cover water and they catch fish!

Jerk Baits, A Fishing Go-Bag Essential

Yet another any time kind of bait, which is why jerk baits are in my fishing go-bag. You can cover lots of water. With a white jerk bait and a flashy jerk bait, you are ready for any body of water. But remember, you don’t always have to twitch them. You can run them on a straight retrieve, troll them, or even dead stick them.

Swimbaits Are The Fishing Go-Bag All-Star

Swimbaits are probably the most versatile bait in my fishing go-bag. If I had to pick just one bait to throw for the rest of my life, certainly it would be a swimbait. From pike in the Northwest Territories to snook in the Florida keys and everything in between. I have used a swimbait on a jig head to catch fish successfully. So it is no surprise this is in my fishing go-bag.

Hair Feather Jigs

The fish are not always in a rock em sock mood. That is to say, sometimes you have to slow it right down and sit something in front of their nose. So when this happens it is tough to beat a small boo-jig under a slip-float. From panfish to muskie, open water to ice fishing, freshwater to saltwater…much like the swimbait, hair and feathers catch fish!
